Trouble for fast food investors after China food scare

Global Business

McDonald’s and Yum, the company parent of KFC and Pizza Hut, said they have halted orders from Shanghai Husi Food Co., owned by OSI Group Inc. of Aurora Ill., after a recent report triggered a food safety scare in China. CCTV’s Sareena Dayaram reports.

The television report showed workers picking meat up off the factory floor and using expired meat. Both McDonald’s and Yum have suspended purchases from OSI, but there is still the issue of a food safety scandal among Asia’s top consumer market.

CCTV’s Phillip Yin spoke with Dr. Ren Wang from the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization about food security in China.
