Former CDC epidemiologist Dr. Joel Selanikio on the Ebola crisis

Ebola Outbreak

Nations beyond West Africa are strengthening their response to the Ebola epidemic. The U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power, arrived in West Africa, where she will visit Ebola-ravaged countries Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

In Australia, 19 people are under home quarantine. They had contact with an 18-year-old girl who developed a fever after returning from Guinea. Her initial tests came back negative for the virus.

In the U.S., Illinois and Florida will join New York and New Jersey in isolating health workers returning from West Africa. One nurse forcibly quarantined in New Jersey last week displayed no symptoms. The White House condemned the state-ordered quarantines.

For more discussion on the Ebola crisis, CCTV America talked with Dr. Joel Selanikio. He is the CEO and co-founder of Magpi, an award-winning mobile data collection software used for health and international development. He is also a former CDC epidemiologist.
