Chinese tourists visiting the United States tend to flock to cities like New York, Washington DC and Las Vegas, but a direct flight that began last year from Beijing to Boston is opening up new areas, including the state of Maine, to Chinese visitors. China’s demand for American lobster is at an all-time high. The market for live or processed U.S. lobsters has jumped from just over two million dollars in 2009, to more than 90 million in 2014. The new market has led to more stability for lobster fishermen and changes in the way they handle their catch. CCTV America’s Karina Huber filed the report from the U.S. state of Maine.
