Will Europe overcome its economic and political challenges? Can Islamic State be stopped? And what happens if the United States Congress walks away from the Iran nuclear deal?
This special edition of The Heat looks into these stories and more.

The news has been coming fast and furious – from China to Cuba, the Middle East, Europe and beyond. To help dive into these issues, The Heat put together a distinguished panel of current and former journalists.

  • In Washington, Afshin Molavi. A self-described “recovering journalist”, he’s worked for Reuters, The Washington Post and the Arab News. Molavi is currently a Senior Fellow at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
  • An independent writer and commentator, Philippe Legrain’s work can be seen in such publications as The Guardian, The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal Europe, Foreign Policy and The New Republic. Legrain joined the panel from London.
  • In Washington, China Daily’s Chief Washington Correspondent and the Deputy Editor of China Daily USA – Chen Weihua.
