The Heat: High costs of US college

The Heat

A college education is part of the American dream. But the massive costs involved are leaving a generation of students in financial debt.

Most children in the United States have been schooled by their parents about the importance of a college education. It can open doors to a successful career but it can also open a trap-door to thousands of dollars of debt.

According to the College Board Annual Survey of Colleges, the average price tag for an in-state public college is just over $23,000 per year in the U.S.
A private college is double that, at more than $46,000 per year in the U.S.

CCTV’s May Lee filed this report from Los Angeles.
