China company jumps into high stakes smartphone market

Global Business

Jumping into the business of smartphones now may seem counter-intuitive given how crowded the market is these days, but Chinese entertainment company Leshi Internet Information and Technology, or LeTV, is doing just that.

Recently, one million LeTV phones were sold in China in just 3 months. The phones will be launched in the U.S. later this year. LeTV is also ramping up its content business by producing more original programs to stream on their phones so as to create an entire ecosystem.

CCTV’s May Lee sat down with JD Howard, Vice President and General Manager of LeTV’s International Mobile division to find out more about their ambitious strategy.
