Since the military coup in Thailand, farmers across the country have been ordered to stop planting rice. At first it was because of a huge rice surplus, but then it was because of a drought. Farmers have been struggling.

  • A new stimulus package in Thailand is targeted at helping low income earners in Thailand. Its architect, the recently appointed Finance Minister, did it to great effect in the administration of Thaksin Shinawatra. At the Finance ministry, they are hoping that an injection of four billion dollars in the form of interest free loans, will kickstart the agricultural economy.
