Chinese companies embrace Indonesia’s tech market

Global Business

In recent years, Indonesia has emerged as one of the next big markets in tech attracting many big Internet companies, including those from China. This growing sector has been dubbed the next big thing.

Like it’s namesake, Cheetah Mobile is growing at blazing speeds. This company created the Clean Master utility app to clean the junk files off your phone and boost available memory, which has been downloaded 1.3 billion times.

Now, the Cheetah has set it’s sights on a new market.

“we believe that the Indonesia market will boom, we can see that local original equipment manufacturers are growing very fast like they can provide much more affordable devices for Indonesia people,” said Johnny Li, the INT’L Business DEV’T of Cheetah Mobile. “That’s why for Cheetah as a global mobile app developer, we believe that we also should do something.”

Cheetah mobile is not alone as companies raced to capture Indonesia’s young and tech-savvy population. Especially Chinese companies, like UC browser and Tencent’s WeChat that have breakthrough successes in the mobile app sector in recent years, they’re joining companies like Facebook and Twitter that boast one of their largest user bases in the country.

As the trend set to continue, many analysts believe that Indonesia’s technological revolution has the potential to drive the economy. The country is at juncture now to balance regulations and innovations to ensure that it will be the next big thing in global internet economy.
