EU migration summit pushing for solution to refugee crisis

Europe’s refugee crisis is putting a strain on a long-standing European deal that does away with border and passport controls. 800 thousand refugees have entered Europe this year, but some European leaders said they’re getting a better handle on the flow of asylum seekers.

 

After two days of frank discussions, leaders from Europe and Africa concluded with the adoption of a migration action plan, which was aimed at stemming the flow of migrants across the Mediterranean.

Europe’s main focus is on its eastern border with Turkey, which has seen 650,000 migrants and refugees cross into Europe this year and has left the border-free Schengen accords on the brink of collapse.
