World leaders opened the much-anticipated climate conference Monday in Paris. From taxing carbon emissions to using more nuclear energy, what tools will they choose to combat climate change?

Melting glaciers, rising sea levels, more extreme weather, and mass extinction of species: these are the challenges facing us all. This new round of climate talks holds for many the hope that with decisive action, there’s still time to reverse some of the damage and make the world right once more.

CCTV America’s Kate Parkinson reports from Paris.

A panel of climate experts joined The Heat to discuss what the options are on the table:

  • From Paris, Nick Nuttall, spokesperson for the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change.
  • From Paris, Wael Hmaidan, International Director of the Climate Action Network.
  • From Paris, Gino Van Begin, Secretary General at the International Council for Local Environment Initiatives.
  • From Beijing, Wang Tao, resident scholar at the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy.
  • From London, Paul Simpson, CEO of Carbon Disclosure Project.
