It’s been over a year since Cuba and the United States announced their renewal of diplomatic ties. Now, President Barack Obama is visiting.

The last time a sitting president from the United States visited Cuba was back in 1928. The historic trip follows a series of diplomatic announcements after the leaders of both countries declared the re-establishment of relations in December 2014.

“Americas Now” anchor Elaine Reyes is joined in the studio with Jason Marczak to discuss President Obama’s visit. Jason is the Director of the Latin America Economic Growth Initiative at the Atlantic Council.

In addition to Cuba, Elaine asks Jason about Barack Obama’s trip to the country he will visit right after Cuba, Argentina.
