Israel airport security as a model for Europe

With ISIL threatening more attacks, some analysts are suggesting European airports adapt an Israel approach to securing terminals from terrorists.  CCTV’s Stephanie Freid reports.

At Ben Gurion International airport, security starts before passengers get inside the compound.

At the checkpoint, agents armed with automatic weapons stop every car and question every driver.

Security agents also routinely check the toilets and the trash cans for suspicious parcels or explosives that may have been placed inside.

The multi-tiered approach surveillance, technology, engaging personally with travelers and even profiling is why the airport boasts a stellar security record, zero hijackings or bombings.
There was a minor security breach 15 years ago.

Is it likely Europe’s airports will replicate aspects of this model.
