President Bachelet’s personal story resonates with the Chilean public. Her father, a general, was a victim of the regime of Augusto Pinochet who took power in 1973 after a coup d’etat. Alberto Bachelet was imprisoned and tortured for opposing Pinochet. He died while being detained.

CCTV Anchor of Global Business News Rachelle Akuffo sat down with President Michelle Bachelet at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington, DC, during the recent Nuclear Security Summit.

In addition to nuclear energy, they discuss education and trade, including Chile’s trade agreement with China.
