The Heat: Brazil’s broiling battle for impeachment

The Heat

There were celebrations in the streets of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo after Brazilian lawmakers took the first steps to impeach President Dilma Rousseff.

Just last year, Rousseff was celebrating her re-election. Now, the long-embattled leader faces the very real possibility of being removed from power.

CCTV’s Paulo Cabral reports from Brazil.

To discuss the impeachment threat against President Rousseff:

  • Joao Feres Junior, a professor of political science at Rio de Janeiro State University.
  • Eric Farnsworth, vice president of the Americas Society and the Council of the Americas.
  • Paulo Sotero, director of the Brazil Institute of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
