Earth Day 2016 was marked by an event of global significance – the signing of The Paris Climate Agreement by China and the United States.  Both countries are responsible for about 40 percent of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions and the deal displays their commitment to reduce them in a major way.  

The pact was signed by 170 countries at the United Nations in New York. One industry that stands to benefit is solar technology.  

In Argentina, solar energy is already making a huge difference. Correspondent Joel Richards traveled to Argentina’s so-called Solar Villages to see how people’s lives are being transformed.

Isolated communities who have learned to meet their energy needs using the sun’s heat have discovered that it is resolving a lot of problems in their remote region.
