A new ruling by the International Association of Athletics Federation will allow Kenya to compete in the Rio Olympics this summer, despite ongoing doping allegations.

Kenya’s athletics story has often been one of successful conquests. But, in the last few years it has been tainted by doping scandals.

Barely a month after the country celebrated beating a second World Anti-Doping Agency deadline to pass a crucial anti-doping law, the country was still declared in breach of the WADA’s code.

Athlete’s fear of missing this year’s Olympics have been relived however, after the IAAF said the country will not be banned from Rio. Kenya however remains on the monitoring list for countries with doping problems.

In a statement the Kenyan government reiterated its commitment to fighting the vice and say they are on a mission to find a solution to the WADA verdict.
