Scott Kennedy discusses the One Belt One Road Summit

China’s top lawmaker, Zhang Dejiang, is in Hong Kong for a three day visit. He addressed a summit on China’s One Belt One Road initiative and called on Hong Kong to take full advantage of the opportunities it will create.

He said the central government will implement the principles of the “one country – two systems” constitutional arrangement.

This is the first visit by a central government leader since 2012, when then-President Hu Jintao participated in the 15th anniversary celebrations of Hong Kong’s return to China.

To discuss the kickoff of the One Road One Belt Summit and the OBOR initiative, CCTV America’s Michelle Makori spoke with Scott Kennedy, deputy director of the Freeman Chair in China Studies the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
