Hisense, largest global electronics maker, looks to serve Americas markets quicker

Global Business

China used to be the world factory thanks to its cheap labor costs.

However, a turning point is underway, as major Chinese manufactures go abroad, seeking to cut costs and deliver their merchandise more quickly to consumers.

CCTV America’s Franc Contreras has this profile of Chinese electronics maker Hisense.

Founded in 1969 as a state-run company, Hisense is now the world’s third largest producer of state of the art flat screen, smart televisions, surpassing Sony in 2015.

Hisense bought the strategically located regional manufacturing hub for $23.7 million dollars. It exports 65 percent of the TVs it produces to the United States, Mexican and Central America are also growing markets.

Major U.S. retailers are cutting risks by holding fewer inventories. That means quick turnaround from manufacturers.

Like its top competitors, Hisense knows shipping finished televisions from Mexico to U.S. and Latin American customers, saves one full month over the time it used to take to bring them all the way from China.
