Venezuela protests over increasing food shortages2

Looting and protests over lack of food have left three people dead in Venezuela over the last week. The South American country is in the midst of a steep recession, blamed on a combination of fallen oil prices and economic mismanagement.

CCTV America’s Stephen Gibbs reports.

Something has changed in the lines outside Venezuela’s supermarkets. No longer is the main complaint the boredom, the humiliation, the sheer waste of time of all this; It’s now a more basic.

People said they are hungry.

Complaint for food could be heard across Venezuelan social media. Some used hunger as a reason or an excuse, to give up waiting and start stealing. For them, every opportunities were taken even if the food is still alive.
