Memorials for victims of shooting in Dallas

World Today

Dallas Police Department buildings are blocked off, with police vehicles and armed officers outside.

Previously, mourners had gathering outside. They were grieving the five police officers shot dead, as they patrolled a rally against the killing of two African-American men by police.

CCTV America’s Hendrik Sybrandy reports from Dallas.

It’s been two days since five police officers were shot to death in Dallas seven others wounded and this city is just beginning its recovery.

That support is reflected in the memorial that’s grown on, around and now practically covers a Dallas Police car, which is parked in front of police headquarters and may not be going on patrol for quite a while.

Thursday evening’s attack followed a protest against the recent fatal police shootings of two African American men in two different parts of the country.

The anger some feel towards some cops is not shared by many people there. For some of them, the shootings were very personal because they have friends on the police force.
