Eddie Huang: Returning to China

Eddie Huang, writer of "Fresh Off the Boat", talks about the inspiration for his latest book.

Huang’s memoir, Fresh Off the Boat, was published in 2013. It inspired the hit American TV sitcom of the same name. It tells Huang’s story as a young boy struggling to fit in in suburban Florida.

In the last few years, Huang has connected even more deeply with his Chinese culture and has chronicled the journey in his latest book, Double Cup Love: On the Trail of Family, Food and Broken Hearts in China.

“I started to wonder, what would my life be like if I lived in China and I was born in China? So I went back to China and I chronicled, kind of, this reverse migration.”

Eddie Huang joined May Lee in our Los Angeles studio to talk more about his new book.
