Americas Now

Buenos Aires is renowned as one of the cultural capitals of Latin America and the home and inspiration to writers, artists and musicians. The Argentine capital also boasts one of the most prominent art galleries in the region.

In 2016, the Buenos Aires Museum of Latin American Art, or MALBA, reached its 15th anniversary. Now, its millionaire owner wants the museum to build upon its social role in the city.

The cultural center the MALBA hopes to build is part of the changing landscape of Buenos Aires. City Hall is also planning a major renovation of the same area which faces urgent social needs in terms of improving infrastructure, basic services and quality housing.

The MALBA is this week’s Urban Voice.
