Colombia’s health system ranked among world’s best, though many disagree

The “International Living” magazine ranked Colombia’s healthcare system third best in the world. However, many Colombians are not so eager to agree and it caused a lot of controversy among people who struggle to receive even basic medical services.

CGTN’s Michelle Begue reports.

This year’s ranking also included a category measuring the best healthcare services and Colombia’s health system was rated the third best in the world.

The article also mentioned the World Health Organization as it ranked Colombia’s healthcare system 22 out of the 191 countries they reviewed — higher than Canada and the United States.

But, citizens are not the only ones to complain of Colombia’s health services. Bogota’s ombudsman office claimed it can take three hours for an ambulance to respond to an emergency at city’s hospitals.
