Susan Roberts

Susan Roberts is a news anchor for CGTN America based in Washington, D.C.

She conducts live interviews with ambassadors, diplomats, academia and other newsmakers who contribute to CGTN’s global broadcast.

Susan has spent the bulk of her journalism career based in Washington, D.C.

She was a White House and Capitol Hill correspondent for CBS News and it’s affiliate service during the Bush and Obama Administrations. She contributed to the CBS Evening News, the Weekend News, Early Show, CBSNews.com, as well as CBS owned and operated television stations.

Her live reports were also seen on Tokyo Broadcasting, Sky News and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

While at CBS, she covered then U.S. Senator Obama’s campaign for the U.S. Presidency, Hurricane Katrina, the War in Afghanistan, the 2008 Financial Crisis, the Auto and Bank Bailouts, along with numerous other international stories over a seven-year span.

As a local reporter in Washington, she and her colleagues were awarded an Edward R. Murrow award for their coverage of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

She holds a B.A. in English from Centenary College. She obtained part of that degree from St. John’s College Oxford, England.

Susan is an active member of P.E.O, the American News Women’s Club and a proud sponsor of two World Vision children, Jose and Poojitha. She is currently writing a children’s book titled “Why doesn’t Nicholas speak ?”
