CGTN America’s Asieh Namdar interviewed Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, the chief negotiator in multilateral talks on Iran’s nuclear capabilities on the sidelines of the current U.N. General Assembly meeting.

Reporter’s Notebook and extended interview: Asieh Namdar

“I recently got a chance to sit down with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, for a one-on-one interview as he arrived in New York to attend the UN General Assembly.

It was my first time meeting the western-educated Zarif. He was friendly, gracious but also resolute in stating Iran’s position on a number of issues. We covered Nuclear Negotiations with the world powers, Building trust after years of mistrust, Iran’s role in Iraq, The Islamic state terror group, and other topics like his activism on social media, when most Iranians have limitations, and the July arrest of Washington Post reporter, Jason Rezaian. Here’s part of that candid conversation.”
