Canada Signs Free Trade Deal with South KoreaCanada Signs Free Trade Deal with South Korea

Just a few weeks after Canada celebrated 20 years of free trade with north American cousins, the US and Mexico, Prime Minister Stephen Harper has signed another deal, this time with South Korea. This is Canada’s first free trade deal with an Asian nation – believed to be worth 1.5 billion US dollars to the Canadian economy boosting exports to South Korea by about a third. After years of negotiations, the two signed a deal earlier this month to drop tariffs. While Canadian farmers are celebrating the deal – some in the auto sector are not.
