Despite the boost from the World Cup, Brazil’s economy may be showing signs of slowing. But there’s one industry that’s defying the downward trend.
Unfortunately the sector thrives when crime and violence are on the upswing. Paulo Cabral takes a look at Brazil’s bullet proof car industry.

The industry association estimates 10,000 vehicles were equipped with special glasses and heavy armors last year, 15% more than 2012, as the reach of the product extends beyond the usual millionaires.
Even with the boom in the bulletproof car industry, crime against motorists still remains an issue. And to tackle the issue, some agree that the country should focus on solutions for crime reduction even at the expense of losing a factory that manufactures to meet the demand.
