Snowden Promises to Release More Material on U.S. Syping

The Heat

It’s a plot worthy of Hollywood. A man working as a government contractor downloads state secrets, flees the country in search of asylum while selectively leaking material to a friendly press. In this case the story is all too real – with Edward Snowden now sitting in Russia promising to release even more material on spying by the U.S. National Security Agency and beyond.

Snowden’s disclosures have embarrassed the U.S. government – both at home and abroad, forcing the Obama administration to reassess and reform a policy put in place after the September 11th attacks. It’s a story that continues to reverberate. CCTV’s Jim Spellman reports with details on  how it all began.
