U.S. Stops Issuing Tourist Visas to Venezuelans

 The  United States has decided to stop issuing tourist visas to travelers from Venezuela. The move comes after Caracas blamed the U.S. for aiding the anti-government protests. There are also speculations that the U.S. could next turn to sanctions against Venezuela’s government.

Last week, Venezuela expelled U.S. consular staff on charges they were recruiting students to participate in anti-government protests that have sparked the country’s deadliest unrest in a decade. The State Department denied those accusations. The embassy said that because of the expulsions and the delays in approval to bring in new consular officers, it no longer has sufficient staff to process first-time tourist visa requests.CCTV’s Martin Markovits reports about the diplomatic tiff between both these countries.
