Aid organizations have scaled up their response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. The International Federation of the Red Cross is sending 9 more health specialists to Guinea, where the epidemic has killed an estimated 102 people. The charity has also launched an emergency fund-raising campaign. Across the border in Liberia, an estimated 13 people have died from the virus. Adventus Smith is a outreach health worker. With his team, he comes to Freeport market in the capital Monrovia. These leaflets outline what to do if people come into contact with the Ebola virus. But not everyone believes the dangers. 

The first confirmed case of Ebola in Liberia was reported nearly 2 weeks ago. It’s killed an estimated 12 people since then, 1 of those close to Monrovia. But for some, this is the first they have heard about it. 

Similar events are also being carried out in high schools. Campaigners believe children can change behavior quicker than adults and can carry health messages home. But although these events are well-received, more need to happen.
