Cancer rates are the highest in China, India and Russia. Researchers say cancer now accounts for more than one in five deaths in China . Their findings appear in the U.K’s leading medical journal, “The Lancet.” They found that combined with India and Russia, the three countries account for nearly all new cancer cases in the world– and just over half of all cancer deaths.
The researchers say a higher priority needs to be placed on funding cancer tracking and cancer research, especially in these three countries. The journal mentions that cancer rates in China are high for several reasons– including an aging population and environmental pollution. Lung cancer is the most common form of cancer in China.
