A black box detector deployed by the Haixun 01 picked up the signal at around 25 degrees south latitude and 101 degrees east longtitude. Now the Australian searchers have turned to a robotic submarine called “Bluefin 21,” which can create a three-dimensional sonar map of the area to chart any debris on the sea floor.
