For the first time in 31 years, an American has won the United States’ premier foot race. 38-year-old Meb Kflezighi won the men’s division in the 118th Boston Marathon.

Running the race, on schedule, sent a mesasge — that this international community of runners would not be intimidated by the tragedy of last year’s event.
