Unrest in Turkey After Continuous Protests

The Heat

For the last year Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been under pressure from protesters and his political rivals. He has cracked down on demonstrators and is accused of being too authoritarian.

He is also been forced to defend himself against corruption allegations. Tensions remain high in Turkey and now there is concern about further civil unrest and government instability. Anand Naidoo discusses with CCTV correspondent Natalie Carney from Istanbul on the developments in Turkey.

CCTV’s Anand Naidoo interviews Tulin Daloglu, former member of the Turkish parliament and Hakan Camuz, chairman of an Islamic-oriented business organization on the protests in Turkey.

For years Turkey has been praised for being one of the strongest emerging economies in the world. But is recent domestic unrest there causing economic fall-out? Emre Tunc Sakaoglu, a researcher at the International Strategic Research Organization’s Center for Asia-Pacific Studies in Turkey and Cenk Sadir, founder and managing director of Sidar Global Advisors talk to Anand Naidoo about this.
