Palestinian Rivals Announcing End to Feud;Israel’s Reaction

Palestinian Rivals Reach Agreement

Rival Palestinian groups Fatah and Hamas say they’re ready to reconcile after seven years of conflict. Israel says any group that choses to partner with Hamas does not want peace and has called an end to talks. Can all sides ever find a road to peace?

There was a dramatic development in the Middle East last week when Palestinian rivals announced they’re ready to end their feuding and form a unity government in a matter of weeks. That set off strong reactions in Israel where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pulled out of the peace talks.

While the United States says it will not abandon the peace process, the efforts by the Obama Administration during the last nine months have so far proven futile. Bringing the Israelis and Palestinians back to the table will not be easy. CCTV’s Stephanie Freid recaps the latest developments from Tel Aviv.
