Ukraine’s Prime Minister Wants More Reforms

Ukraine’s Prime Minister and interim President are urging lawmakers to adopt a series of sweeping reforms. One in particular: a revision to the constitution the would allow parliament and not the President to call for a referendum.

They say the amendment is urgent. Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Oleksandr Turchynov say they want to keep Ukraine united. Their plan is to give through a nationwide referendum, greater power to Ukraine’s mayors and regional governors most of whom are still appointed by the President.

They think, without this, Ukraine won’t be able to get over consequences of authoritarianism, totalitarianism and build strong regions and a strong country.CCTV’s Roee Ruttenberg reports from Kiev with details.
