Cubans Rally for Sustainable Socialism on May Day

One of the biggest May Day celebrations anywhere in the world is in Cuba. An estimated half-a-million people marched through Havana’s Revolution Square on Thursday.
According to the government’s estimate, more than 600,000 people participated in the main rally in Havana’s emblematic Revolution Square as President Raul Castro looked on. Nearly 1,700 representatives of various organizations, social movements, and solidarity activists from 78 countries and regions marched along with Cuban workers.

Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, the newly-elected general secretary of Cuba’s labor union, the Confederation of Cuban Workers (CTC), delivered a speech before the parade, in which he expressed support for reforms recently introduced by Castro.CCTV correspondent Michael Voss has the details.
