Six people were injured in a knife attack at a railway station in the southern Chinese metropolis of Guangzhou on Tuesday morning, local authorities said. 

Four of the injured, three women and a man, received treatment at the General Hospital of the Guangzhou Military Area Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. One of them was hurt in the neck, two in hands, and one got fracture when running away. Their injuries are not life threatening.

All the injured people are from Inner Mongolia. Liu, the one who came to the hospital by herself, had her leg wounded when she tried to avoid the attackers.

“We went out of the station, and we were taking photos when a gangster came and attacked me with a knife. He was not tall, aged about 30 or 40,” said Liu.

The attack happened at about 11:30 in the square of the Guangzhou Railway Station, according to police.

A suspect is receiving treatment at a local hospital and his identity has yet to be confirmed. Police are still chasing the suspect’s accomplices.

The attack did not affect railway operations, according to Guangzhou Railway (Group) Corporation.

The incident is the latest attack at a crowded train station in the country in the past 70 days.

Three people were confirmed dead and 79 others were injured in a terrorist attack at a railway station in Urumqi, capital of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on April 30.

On March 1, knife-wielding assailants killed 29 civilians and injured 143 others at a railway station in the southwestern Chinese city of Kunming.
