Syrian Government Forces Set to Control Homs

Refugee and Migrant Crisis

In the city of Homs, the last Syrian opposition fighters were evacuated Thursday. This puts Homs, once called ‘Capital of the Revolution’ under full government control, for the first time in more than two years.

Syrian forces say they will take full control over Homs. After holding this city for nearly two years, more than 900 rebel fighters (some limping their way onto buses) have made their way out of Homs in several convoys. They were driven to rebel-held territory outside the city under a deal agreed between the insurgents and forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad. CCTV’s Nick Harper reports.
