In spite of a ceasefire deal in South Sudan, the army says at least 27 rebel forces have been killed in response to an attack on government positions in Unity state. However, rebel forces have accused the army of violating the truce, less than 24 hours after a peace deal was signed.

The United Nations (UN) has warned half of South Sudan’s population is on the brink of disaster. In a stark warning, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told the Security Council that 6 million people could become refugees. Ban Ki-moon said many are starving or will be dead by the end of the year. This comes amid reports that a ceasefire signed Friday has already been broken. CCTV’s Nick Harper reports from UN headquarters.
