Villagers in a Nigerian town have taken matters into their own hands against Islamist militants. Residents in Kala Balge in the northeast say they ambushed suspected Boko Haram members. Some were killed, others were arrested. That region is the group’s stronghold.

Locals in the country’s northern states have been forming vigilante groups in various areas to resist the Islamic militant group that holds more than 270 schoolgirls captive. An international manhunt continues to find the girls.

There is still no official confirmation from the government that it is willing to negotiate with Boko Haramn for the release of the girls. CCTV’s Deji Badmus reports.
