NY Court Convicts Abu Hamza on Terror Charges

Abu Hamza’s defense team tried to portray him as a man who’s bark was worse than his bite.

They implied the incendiary speeches and sermons he gave at the North London Finsbury Park mosque were simply bluster. That he was not a criminal mastermind.

However, the jury saw it differently, finding him guilty of all 11 terror-related charges. They included setting up a terrorist training camp in Oregon; sending a colleague to Afghanistan to help al Qaeda and the Taliban; and helping kidnappers who took 16 tourists hostage in Yemen in 1998.

Four of them later died in an operation to rescue them. The testimony of the prosecution’s star witness, 59-year-old Mary Quin, may have helped secure the guilty verdict.

CCTV’s Nick Harper reports.
