Long lines were evident outside many polling stations, and some voters have high hopes for the man likely to be the country’s new leader. CCTV’s Adel EL Mahrouky reports.

In Egypt , security threats didn't seem to have much impact on turnout for the presidential election.

Senior residents were the first to appear at polling stations. They dominated the lines at al Khulafa Primary School. Around 500,000 security personnel are securing the election. But at this polling station their measures were tighter than the rest of the stations. Presidential Candidate abdel Fattah al-Sisi has registered to vote here.
