At least 14 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in the eastern city of Sloviansk when pro-independence fighters shot down their military helicopter. The Mi-8 helicopter was downed on the outskirts of Sloviansk by rebels using a portable air defense missile, according to Oleksandr Turchynov, Ukraine’s acting president, in remarks to parliament in Kiev.

Meanwhile, in Donetsk, relatives of fighters killed in clashes with soldiers from Kiev have started to bury their loved ones. CCTV’s Stephanie Freid reports.

The city’s newly-elected mayor wants the demonstrators to clear out of the Maidan, the site where February’s protests began.  But many say they won’t leave until they know the country’s new leaders will bring real change.
