Future of Egypt in the hands of Al-Sisi

World Today

Egyptians are hoping their next president, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, can bring back stability to the country after three years of political turmoil. But how successful will he be in his new endeavor?

It was the same question asked when Mohamed Morsi was elected. Egypt has been in transition since Hosni Mubarak was ousted in 2011. At first Morsi’s election was seen as an end to that period. But many cite his policies as the reason he was ousted a year later.

Now, the man who led that ouster in 2012 is in power. But analysts say that his election may not necessarily be the end of Egypt’s transitional period.

CCTV’s Adel-el Mahrouky reports on why analysts say it could go either way.
