Ukraine's military stepped up its campaign against eastern Ukraine's armed militia on Tuesday. They pounded several towns and cities with artillery and air strikes. CCTV’s Stephanie Freid reports from Sloviansk.

A Ukrainian jet was reportedly downed by militia fighters and one town is now back under Ukrainian control, according to the military. The fighting has also increased in the nearby town of Kramatorsk as well as Semenevka.

Ukraine military jets are coming in from the south and they are hitting the city. This is part of a new campaign, according to the Interior Ministry – a new phase by Ukraine’s military. Some people waited hours to get out and it took some bribe money for them to leave.

This is an intensification by the Ukrainian military in the campaign in the region, and it is expected to continue.
