The leaders of the G-7 nations are threatening to impose tougher sanctions on Russia, if it does not help restore stability in eastern Ukraine.
After meeting Wednesday in Brussels, the G7 has just issued a statement saying the group quote-“stands ready to intensify targeted sanctions” on Russia.It is the first time in 17 years, the leaders have met without Russia, and the summit is being dominated by events in Ukraine. CCTV’s Jack Barton has this report.

Russian President Vladimir Putin says he is willing to have dialogue with his U.S. counterpart.

“I have no reason to think that Obama doesn’t want to meet with the president of Russia. But it’s up to him after all. I am always open for talks,” Putin said in an interview with a radio station.

At the same time, Putin has criticized the United States over its aggressive foreign policies. He stressed Russia had “hardly any military contingents abroad,” while U.S. bases were set up far and wide across the globe. So, will both the leaders meet?
