In yet another brutal incident, a woman in northeastern India was shot dead by alleged members of a militant group for resisting rape. A 35-year-old tribal woman’s head was blown to pieces when she resisted an alleged molestation and rape attempt in South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya state by suspected GNLA militants who shot her at point blank range, sparking outrage in the state.
This is the third reported incident of violent rape or attempted rape in recent days. It once again raises the question of unabated violence against women in the country. CCTVs Ritu Dixit has more.
