The Nigerian government has often accused Cameroon of being the weakest link in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency but Nigeria’s Francophone neighbor has moved to action.

Before this latest incident, the country’s security forces reportedly killed about 60 insurgents last Wednesday shortly after the sect had carried out raid in three remote border villages in Nigeria’s Borno State.

The sect members were said to have been ambushed and killed in the Cameroonian village of Dabanga when they crossed over to the country’s territory. On May 31, Cameroon also reported killing 40 Boko Haram terrorist shortly after the release two Italian Priests and a Canadian nun in the town of Kousseri.

President Paul Biya had deployed 1000 troops along the country’s border with Nigeria shortly after the security summit in Paris where regional leaders agreed to join hands to end the Bokon Haram insurgency. That decision now appears to be yielding results. CCTV’s Deji Badmus reports.
