At least 270 people have been killed in eastern Ukraine since the political crisis began. CCTV’s Kate Parkinson reports from Donetsk.
The violence has forced thousands to flee their homes. Recently, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that a military operation in eastern Ukraine to subdue a separatist rebellion has forced thousands of civilians to flee across the border into Russia, but Ukrainian authorities responded that there was no evidence of a refugee crisis.
The Red Cross says it is stepping up its aid efforts to help meet the growing humanitarian needs.
